Miss K's grade 9 students will be travelling to Ottawa to take part in a week-long program called "Democracy and Youth", that directly aligns with their social studies curriculum (Canadian Government). The program is administered by Encounters with Canada, which is an organization that is federally funded. The students will tour parliament buildings, see the sights, and visit residences and offices of MPs, the Governor General, etc. They will be attending with around 75 other students from across Canada, so there are also evening activities, mock elections, and sport or cultural events involved as well as a Friday night dance. Students will stay at the Terry Fox Canadian Youth Centre for the duration of the trip. The class will be flying out of High Level on March 16th and returning on March 25th, and Jeff Savage will be our male chaperone. We are very excited to embark on this adventure and feel very fortunate to have this amazing opportunity available to us!
Grade 5 is planning to host a snack sale on March 23rd to raise money for their classroom (furniture, prizes and craft supplies).
School Council will be in to serve a pancake and sausage breakfast on the morning of March 29th. They will starting serving breakfast at 8:40 am.
